Super Sports Round Up!

Well, it has been a busy half term for children at Brampton engaging in physical activity and sporting events in and after school this term.

Firstly, we have had a new lunchtime and after school club being run in school through our partnership with Samba Sports, which has been very successful! Every Monday lunchtime, children can access a fun and active sports club run by Jordan. The children have loved participating in a range of activities accompanied by some 'Groovy Tunes'! After school, Jordan has facilitated a multi-skills club for children in Years 3 and 4 to develop a wide range of skills including agility, co-ordination and balance. The children have really enjoyed taking part in this after school club, which will continue into 2020.

Fun Fit Friday, run by our Brilliant Bronze Ambassadors, has also been very popular with children. This is another lunchtime club, where children can drop in to participate in a range of fun activities to promote physical activity, including: Just Dance, archery, Cup Stack and a range of athletic stations.

Football has been a focus for competitions this term, with both the girls and boys competing in the SHAPE partnership tournaments. Both teams were a real credit to the school and performed brilliantly, showing excellent skills and great team-work. In addition to this, a group of sixteen girls attended a football festival at St Mary's High School to develop their football skills and gain confidence in the competitive side of the game.

Throughout the term, children from both Key Stages have attended a range of other festivals including Squashfest at Brampton Manor Squash Club, Funfest at Chesterfield Tennis Club, Key Steps Gymnastics and a Multi Skills Festival. It has been great to see children across both key stages engaging in a wide range of activities, with a focus on the 'Spirit of the Games values - Determination, Teamwork, Passion, Honesty, Respect and Self-Belief.

Children in Year 3 have taken part in Bikeabiltiy this term to help develop their confidence in riding a bike. It was brilliant to see so many children out in the fresh air on their bikes learning key skills to help keep them safe when they are out of school.

Finally, fourteen children from Year 5 attended the Bronze Ambassador conference at the Sheffield Institute of Sport. This was a fantastic day, where the children took part in a wide range of activities to help them learn the role of 'Bronze Ambassador' - a young leader who will promote sport and active, healthy lifestyles in school. Every child who attended. was full of passion and enthusiasm in taking on this prestigious role. They even met an ex British Basketball player - Andrew Bridge - who was born and still lives in Chesterfield.
